Beginning a Research Program in an Experimental Science Discipline at a Primarily Undergraduate Institution (PUI) Online Workshop

Graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and early career faculty in a range of experimental sciences rarely get an opportunity to learn about academic careers at primarily undergraduate institutions. Unfortunately, this leads many trainees to assume that such institutions do not offer their faculty productive and rewarding research careers. This workshop will provide trainees with first-hand experience from established faculty within such an institution, along with strategies for enhancing one’s research program within the context of undergraduate teaching and mentoring. In addition, this workshop will provide trainees with information about sources of funding and other resources to support their research with undergraduates. They will also learn about resources available through the Council on Undergraduate Research as a professional organization.
