EVENT:

Counseling sessions with elderly clients are oftentimes hindered by challenges common to geriatric populations. This virtual program will provide a survey of commonly-experienced issues related to such things as cognitive impairment, client and family background, and medication regimes. This program will provide counselors with the tools to successfully navigate these challenges.

Program Objectives 

1) Identify challenges in counseling aging clients
2) Specifics to each potential hindrance
3) Develop techniques to facilitate successful therapeutic outcome

PRESENTER:

Carla Payne is owner of Aging Care Matters, LLC. She has served as a chapter board member and unit leader with the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA) in both PA and NC. She was named ALCA's 2019 Southeast Chapter Member of the Year, and she currently serves as its President-Elect.
