Event Description
It has been quite some time since CAGE asked professional members to respond to a survey regarding the practice of over excavating building sites as a technique to reduce the potential impacts of expansive soils and bedrock.  A committee was formed to compile the data from the survey and then produce a document presenting a commentary on the practice.   It is specifically not the intent of the commentary to be prescriptive or a definition regarding the local standard of care.   The commentary is an informative presentation of the history of the practice, its evolution, and the common range of application as reported by respondents to the survey.   Judgement still prevails in the application of this technique.

At our October monthly lunch meeting, members from the CAGE Overexcavation Commentary Committee will make a presentation in panel format, describing the process of the collecting the data from member firms and the compilation of this information into the document known as:

COMMENTARY ON GEOTECHNICAL PRACTICES
OVER-EXCAVATION FOR EXPANSIVE SOIL AND BEDROCK MITIGATION
IN COLORADO’S FRONT RANGE

CAGE strongly encourages your attendance.  In the weeks following the presentation, our Professional Members will be asked to vote on acceptance of the document as it represents a work product of our organization.
