Please join us for NWAFP’s January 19th virtual meeting on Navigate Interest Rate Changes & Foreign Exchange Risk with our guest speakers Uriel Katz at Starbucks, PNC’s August Barkow, and BNP Paribas' Stephen Chiang. This cross-functional trio will cover a wide range of topics related to currency hedging and interest rate risk. Topics to include: hedge risks associated with short-term and long term-term rates, identification and measurement of foreign exchange risk, and the evaluation and selection of hedging programs tailored for different types of interest rate and FX risks. August Barkow - PNC FX Capital Markets
Augie has over 20 years of FX experience and joined PNC FX Capital Markets in 2011. He holds a master’s degree in business administration, international finance from Marquette University and a bachelor’s degree in business and international logistics from the College of Charleston. He is a NASD Series 7 General Securities Representative and a NASD Series 63 Uniform Securities Agent along with his CTP and ICM certifications. Augie currently focuses on developing existing and prospective relationships by differentiating PNC and offering clients a full suite of foreign exchange hedging products, including spot, forward, options, swaps, and structured solutions.
Before joining PNC, Augie had extensive experience in proprietary and black box program trading in equity, fixed income, commodities and currency markets.
 
Uriel Katz - Starbucks
Uriel manages the Capital Markets/Middle Office function at Starbucks supporting debt issuances, share buybacks, execution of interest rate hedges, and the accurate and complete accounting for all derivatives. In his role, he has implemented various new commodity hedging programs under ASU 2017-12 guidance, facilitated the issuance of 4 separate billion-dollar dual tranche-debt issuances (including Starbucks first SOFR notes), and oversaw the execution of multiple cross-currency net investment hedge and pre-issuance interest rate strategies. Prior to his 4.5 years in Treasury, Uriel worked across the enterprise in teams including Internal Audit, Supply Chain and Store Development as part of Starbucks finance rotational development program. He is a proud University of Washington Foster School of Business alumni with a degree in Business Administration and focus in Finance.

Stephen Chiang - BNP Paribas, Corporate Risk Solutions
Stephen looks after the TMT (Technology, Media, Telecom) Corporate Risk Solutions practice at BNP Paribas in New York.  He has over 20 years experience in originating, advising on, and executing derivative-based strategies for multi-national corporations across sectors with the objective of managing exposures to Rates, FX, commodities, inflation, and other asset classes.  Prior to BNP Paribas, Stephen held similar roles at Barclays Capital and Goldman Sachs.  Stephen holds a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago.
