Reserve your spot at NWAFP’s virtual meeting as we discuss cash investing during uncertain times and how to preserve liquidity without tying up cash.  Our guest panelists:  Alana Askew - Associate Treasurer at the University of Washington, Marvin Cheng - Treasury Manager of Capital Markets at Starbucks, and Debbie Cunningham is Chief Investment Officer of Federal Hermes.

Alana Askew is the Associate Treasurer of Cash Governance at the University of Washington (UW). Alana has worked with the UW’s Treasury Office since 2007 in Treasury Operations, Asset Liability Management and Cash Governance. Before her time at the UW, Alana worked in Trust Operations.  She has an MA in Accounting from Michigan State University and BA from Kalamazoo College.

Marvin Cheng is a seven-year partner with Starbucks Coffee Company. He currently serves as the manager on the Capital Markets team in the Treasury Department. He is primarily responsible for debt capital market transactions, rating agency relationship management, long-range cash forecasting & capital structure analysis, corporate cash investment policy/governance, share repurchase execution as well as managing the company’s derivative book. Prior to treasury, He started his career in public accounting and had held various leadership roles in corporate financial reporting/auditing. He is a proud graduate of the University of Washington and a Washington State CPA and CFA charter holder.

Debbie Cunningham is chief investment officer of Global Liquidity Markets. She joined Federated Hermes in 1981 as a performance analyst and has more than 30 years of investment experience. Since 1990, she has been a portfolio manager for all government and prime liquidity products. In 1994, she took over the management of the taxable liquidity group. In addition to the domestic Taxable Liquidity portfolios, Debbie also oversees the management of the domestic Tax-Exempt Liquidity portfolios as well as the Offshore Liquidity products. Debbie is a current member of the CFA® Society of Pittsburgh and previously held the title of director and president. She also serves as a board member for Robert Morris University, Treasury Market Practices Group, and Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation. Debbie earned a bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University and her MBA from Robert Morris University. She is also a CFA® charter holder.
