Event Description
In this course, students will explore how microorganisms convert organic matter into new cells and waste products, aiding in the removal of BOD, ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate. Key topics include the formation of microbial flocs in wastewater, bioflocculation, and the settling process of mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) in a secondary clarifier. Through theoretical and practical lessons, learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of these critical biological processes in wastewater treatment.

Optional tour of Shelton's membrane and oxidation ditch treatment processes on Wednesday afternoon (not optional for Apprentices).
