Event Description

This course is designed to bring a cohesive understanding of the cause, effect and implications of various bloodstains and patterns for both the Crime Scene Technicians documenting the scene and the detectives investigating the crime. The course will show technicians and investigators how to work together to properly take the bloodstain evidence from the scene to the courtroom.

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

  • Be able to document, preserve and examine bloodstain pattern evidence
  • Be acquainted with the practical aspects of bloodstain pattern analysis
  • Be able to select bloodstains for DNA analysis of greates probative value
  • Understand how to prepare the evidence for presentation in court
Eligible for 16 IAI Certification Hours

Instructor: Anna M. Cox, MFS has worked in Forensics for over 23 years. Cox has provided bloodstain pattern analysis and conclusions in over 215 violent cases across the United States, and in federal and military jurisdictions.

*Note: this class is primarily for Detectives looking to get a better understanding of bloodstain analysis without the hands-on lab activities offered in the Basic Bloodstain Analysis course.
