Event Description

Drs. Andrea Cote and Sheryl Shaw will present "One Health at the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service".  The mission of the United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is to protect the public's health by ensuring that meat, poultry and egg products are safe, wholesome and properly labeled. FSIS is part of a science-based national system to ensure food safety and food defense.  This presentation will focus on providing attendees an understanding of the mission of the US Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) as a regulatory public health agency. It will also describe how FSIS uses a One Health approach to advance its mission. Finally the presenters will provide specific examples of issues/threats/incidents that demonstrate the importance of FSIS’ involvement in One Health collaborations.

Participants must attend at least 50 minutes of the webinar to receive a one hour CE certificate.
