DESCRIPTION:Forensic Pieces of Advanced Shooting Reconstruction\n\n10/19/26 08:00 AM CST\n - 10/23/26 05:30 PM CST\Description:\nCOURSE DESCRIPTION:\n\nThis advanced five day, 40-hour course is designed for crime scene investigators, detectives, crime laboratory analysts and others in the field of forensic science that have the basic training and skills for shooting crime scene examinations. This course will assist law enforcement officers in connecting all of the forensic pieces for the purpose of shooting crime scene reconstruction. A crime scene is a huge puzzle, and piece by piece we compile the physical evidence in each case; the more difficult job is trying to connect those pieces to obtain the big picture, the shooting crime scene reconstruction. This course will also assist in the documentation of physical evidence at the scene which previously might not have been recorded. The\nattendees will have a brief review of basic techniques and skills that may have been acquired in other courses but will quickly expand their knowledge base and skill set with advanced techniques acquired through lecture and hands-on performance of exercises designed to test the attendees’ ability to put all the pieces together. At the conclusion of the course the attendees will have acquired the ability to be able to generate a shooting reconstruction report for the purposes of ultimately providing expert testimony. Mock scenes for this course are specifically designed to assist the attendee in the importance of scene documentation, and to obtain the maximum, accurate information for ultimate shooting crime scene reconstruction. The course will be challenging but will yield the attendee great rewards in advancing their abilities in shooting reconstruction scenes.\n\nThese 40 course hours have approved by the International Association of Identification (IAI) to be applied to credit hours used to acquire IAI Crime Scene Certification as well as re-certification.\Details:\n$695 Per Student\n\nCOURSE TOPICS:\n\n• Review of the fundamentals of shooting reconstruction\n• Angle of impact determination\n• Documentation and testing of potential bullet holes or strikes\n• Proper trajectory documentation of wall shots\n• Projectile penetration and perforation\n• Distance determination on targets and clothing\n• Ballistics for shooting reconstruction\n• Wound ballistics and track trajectory\n• Reconciling bullet holes in clothing with the autopsy findings\n• Homicides vs. suicides in firearm deaths\n• Trace evidence consideration on firearms and projectiles\n• Maximizing your firearms examiner\n• Report writing\n• Hands-on case solving\n• Officer involved shooting investigations\n• Most topics augmented with actual casework\n\nWHAT TO BRING TO CLASS:\nCasual attire is suitable. Have a pen, paper, highlighter, note cards and laptop computer (if desired for note taking). A camera is recommended for the hands-on wallboard and vehicle\nexercises, however a cellphone camera will suffice if traveling with equipment is an issue.
