Description:
The Diversion Committee’s mission is to identify best-practice pre-adjudication alternatives to assist probation departments and stakeholders to redirect youth from further involvement in the juvenile justice system and avoid long term collateral consequences of formal adjudication.
Our goals are to increase the implementation and use of diversion that aligns with the BARJ principles of community protection, accountability, and competency development while employing evidence-based practices in accordance with the principles of JJSES. Additionally, the committee is committed to increasing awareness around current diversion practices and improving methods of data collection.
