Monitor and report on issues relevant to secure detention and emergency custodial care, i.e. overcrowding, DPW regulatory issues, etc.

This committee has become a liaison between the Chiefs' Council and the Juvenile Court Judges Commission (JCJC), as well as JDCAP.


Current Goals/Initiatives:

* Oversight for the training, implementation and ongoing development of the statewide Detention Risk Assessment instrument called the PaDRAI, an objective tool to assist in objectively determining appropriateness of a detention placement in lieu of less restrictive options.
*Working with other system partners in determining avenues and resources to stabilize the availability of detention beds as well as stabilize the fiscal impact to Counties to operate a detention center
