The Emerging Leader is a new board position that will be voted on at the OWEA business meeting during One Water. Assuming it passes we would like to have an individual in place who can step into this exciting new role in the Fall.

This new position is meant to give depth and a new perspective to the board. The Emerging Leader is a fully recognized voting Executive Board member. The goal of this position is to bring fresh new ideas and the viewpoint of those who haven’t been as involved with OWEA. The Emerging Leader position will be a two-year term with an optional one-time renewal for a maximum of four years.

Some attributes of someone who would be a good fit for this role are:

• WEF membership or willingness to upgrade their state only membership to a full WEF membership
• Employer support
• Ability to attend Board Meetings both in person and virtually
• Demonstrated effort and commitment to a prior position or team in OWEA or wastewater industry or other volunteer
• Newer or less experienced in the industry
• Comfortable expressing ideas and opinions as a new member of an established group
• Excited to be involved and willing to do the work of improving our association
• Role in the industry is not defined – lab, operator, engineer, marketing, sales, or manager are all welcome
• Acts on behalf of those often underrepresented in our industry, either via demographics or experience.
