Recreating reality is not my only goal, although I push the limits of my medium. I use my skills to evoke emotions and perhaps tell a story. I live in Cave Creek, Arizona where the cowboy culture is still alive and I find an abundance of ideas for my art. My graphite drawings are done on Bristol plate paper or Coquille paper, which is a stippled surface. I generally use this for my larger pieces. The pencils I use range from 2H to 6B depending on the piece. I design and build all my own frames. Contact me for availability and pricing on my original drawings. I was born in Holland and spent my childhood in Africa. After moving to the US, I spent my young adult years in New Jersey followed by many years in Scottsdale, Arizona and Carmel, Indiana. Currently I call Cave Creek, Arizona home. I first picked up the pencil when I was about nine or ten years old and have never put it down. Although I have worked in several other media, graphite is my passion. I graduated from an art institute and was a technical illustrator for several years.
