Position Summary

The Survey Crew Lead is responsible for overseeing and making critical decisions during field surveys. This role provides technical expertise and guidance across various projects, including civil design, construction survey support, survey mapping, dam monitoring, and boundary retracement surveys. The Survey Crew Lead directs the work of other crew members while in the field, ensuring efficient team coordination and task execution and is responsible for coordination with any on site external personnel as needed including but not limited to, construction foreman, utility locators, traffic control operators, inspectors, and Load Control. Additionally, the Lead ensures that all necessary data is accurately collected, organized, and documented. Strong leadership, technical proficiency, and the ability to ensure that survey work meets both project requirements and industry standards are essential for this role.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The operation and maintenance of geospatial data collection instrumentation including GNSS receivers, Total Stations, Differential Levels, LiDAR scanners and Bathymetry systems.
The operation of geospatial reduction and mapping software including, Autodesk suite of software, Trimble suite of software, ESRI suite of software and Hypack suite of software.
Mentor crew members in operating field instrumentation and geospatial reduction software.
Conduct quality control checks on field observations and the reduction of geospatial data.
Manage data and reporting software including Microsoft Office suite, ESRI suite of software and Denver Water connected applications.
Research and analyze real estate records, engineering documents and utility asset mapping.
Actively participate in the implementation of safety measures and risk mitigation.
Operation and care of Survey Fleet Vehicles.
Availability to work in remote locations for extended periods of time.
Perform related work as required.

Qualifications:
Position Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience

Associate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field preferred.
Minimum 4 years of related work experience.
Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications

Land Survey Intern License (LSI) or • Level II or higher Certified Survey Technician (CST).
Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
An offer of employment may be contingent upon satisfactory results of a post-offer drug test and alcohol. Denver Water tests for the following: amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana (THC), opiates, and phencyclidine (PCP). A strength test may also be conducted due to the physical requirements of the position. If the position is deemed safety-sensitive or requires a CDL you will be placed on the random drug and alcohol testing list which means you may be tested if your name is selected while employed at Denver Water.
