Another Source’s client, the Institute of Buddhist Studies, is recruiting a Senior Accountant to join their team in Berkeley, California. This role can be performed remotely or on-site in Berkeley, California.  

 
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000.

The Institute of Buddhist Studies (IBS) is a Buddhist graduate school and seminary located in Berkeley, California. The IBS is affiliated with the Graduate Theological Union and is committed to academic excellence and intellectual rigor, while also emphasizing the practical application of Buddhist teachings to everyday life. In addition to its academic programs, the IBS also offers community events, workshops, and retreats that aim to promote a deeper understanding of Buddhist philosophy and practice.

The Senior Accountant will: 

Perform month-end close. Prepare monthly account reconciliations and journal entries. 
Review and prepare endowment related schedules. Review investment statements and investment manager summary and prepare monthly reconciliation of the endowment schedules. 
Reconcile monthly payroll to 941 quarterly payroll tax report. 
Assist in the preparation of financial reports and analysis including monthly, quarterly, year-end reporting (W-2s & 1099s) and other outside reporting. 
Assist with the annual audit preparation and provide audit support.  
Assist with the preparation of the organization’s tax returns. 
Assist with A/R and A/P as needed. 
Perform additional duties as assigned. 


Qualifications:
What we would like to see from you: 

B.A. degree in accounting. 
At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting. 
Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimum supervision. 
Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) 
Strong understanding of account reconciliation.  
Payroll experience desired 
Higher education, endowment and or broad-based accounting experience desired. 
Aptitude for analyzing financial data and generating accurate reports in a timely manner. 
Sage experience is a plus
