Treatment Plant Technicians will provide operational skills associated with assigned water/wastewater district activities and monitor contractors and other supporting personnel. These are full time, C2H roles. Working hours are 8am – 5pm. After training is completed then there will be some weekends. Talent would report to the assigned Treatment plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide the technical knowledge and other skills required to provide operational and maintenance responsibilities as follows:

Water and Wastewater System Operations and sampling in compliance with OEPA requirements;
General plant and equipment maintenance, water distribution & wastewater collection system maintenance (pump station repairs, grinder pump replacement, valve exercise/repacking, meter replacement, minor leak repairs, and equipment repair or replacement), investigate resident complaints concerning water/sewage issues and monitoring of contract employees performing repairs;
Other miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Chief Operator (time permitting):

2. In order to obtain satisfactory performance and efficiency from the system components, the following responsibilities are assigned:

Inform the operator as to the operation of the treatment plant units in order that the operator may determine proper operational settings and not cause in the treatment plant processes to be upset. This will help ensure that maximum plant efficiency will be always attained.
Engage in all the required safety practices as they pertain to the operation and maintenance of the plant, pump stations, distribution/collection system and grinder stations.
Keep the chief operator informed as to the need for plant maintenance, overloaded plant conditions and regulatory noncompliance.
Maintain the plant, pump stations, and grinder station sites in a well-kept condition. This pertains to various buildings, mechanical equipment and other structures as well as grounds. This aspect is important in public relations.
Perform maintenance and keep good control records of all phases of plant, distribution system, pump stations, and grinder stations operation and maintenance.
The operator is responsible for notifying the chief operator for the need of equipment purchases, replacements and repair, and should be aware of budgetary requirements and constraints.

3. The plant technician must perform the following sample collection/analytical duties:

Schedule laboratory testing of various water/wastewater chemical and physical characteristics as necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
Set up test equipment for required tests and analysis per the capabilities of the facility and in accordance with Standard Methods, latest edition.
Collect samples and perform required analyses.
Comply with safety rules and regulations to include determining proper handling procedures of samples.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

High School Diploma or Equivalent

EXPERIENCE

Prior technical experience in water/wastewater industry and construction helpful.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Working toward appropriate operator certification.
Valid Drivers License - Must meet insurance underwriting requirements.
