Details:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Water Operator, assists in the operation and maintenance of the municipal water treatment plants and water distribution system; performing a variety of tasks, including laboratory analysis.

This position is responsible for assisting in the performance of daily operations of groundwater filtration/ion exchange type water treatment facilities and/or water distribution systems. Other duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to: semiskilled work, utility line locating, meter reading and change outs, customer service requests, heavy manual labor work under varying weather conditions, and moving around or standing for long periods of time.

Monitor and record all flows at the water treatment plant, including plant production flows; perform various chemical testing and analysis required by federal and state regulatory agencies; perform sampling and process control testing to maintain proper levels of flows,

Perform routine maintenance of valves, pumps, piping and related equipment necessary for the operation and maintenance of the treatment of water; Assist in repair of broken mains and related appurtenances and equipment in the distribution system.

Assist in performing water service line connection inspections; perform meter reads and work orders throughout the system.

Perform general housekeeping and grounds keeping duties.

Other duties as may be required or assigned, including assisting other divisions to achieve assigned tasks.



Qualifications:
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Ohio Driver License with * CDL endorsement;
*Class I Water Treatment Operator's license;
1+ year experience in water treatment facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of water treatment plant operations and processes; knowledge of federal and state water regulations; ability to read blueprints and record readings from gauges; ability to perform maintenance tasks within the treatment facility and in the distribution system; knowledge and appreciation of safety requirements regarding handling of hazardous chemicals and work environments.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a variety of settings. Job may require on call, nights snd weekend work in adverse weather conditions. Exposure to hazardous gases and chemicals is possible. Using safety procedures and common sense will keep you safe.
