The City of Lakewood is currently seeking a Plant Attendant in its Public Works Department, Wastewater Treatment Plant. This is a full-time, AFSCME Bargaining Unit position with an hourly rate of $23.43 - $25.16 (PLUS $.95 SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL). ROTATING SHIFTS, Weekends and Holidays required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have the ability to lift and/or pull 50 lbs. frequently throughout the workday; must have the ability to climb and work from ladders and platforms in excess of 10 feet; must be able to work under frequent physical demands (i.e., bending, reaching, climbing, squatting, standing and extensive use of hands, arms, fingers and legs); must be able to work in all weather conditions; must be able to work around chemicals, dust, heat, fumes and pungent odors using prescribed safety equipment and procedures; must have the ability to read and legibly record readings from various meters and perform basic math functions; must have the ability to hear and understand instructions given at a moderate speaking level; must be able to collect and composite samples using prescribed techniques; must be able to prepare and add chemicals in prescribed dosages; must have the mechanical abilities to remove debris from process equipment and perform minor repairs; must have the ability to perform general cleaning tasks and be able to paint neatly; must be able to operate grass cutting and snow removal equipment.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Employee may be required to work overtime pursuant to the provisions of Article 5 and Article 15 of the current negotiated agreement. Duties are performed under the general direction of the Shift Operator who provides specific instructions on which tasks, either routine or assigned, are to be performed during the normal workday. Examples of duties: Cutting grass, hosing tanks, cleaning pumps, collecting samples and shoveling snow.




Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a good work record.
Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision.
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
Must have a valid Ohio Driver License with less than eight (8) points.
May be required to participate in testing at the discretion of the City.
Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination and police background investigation.
Must obtain an Ohio EPA Class I Wastewater Operator's certification within 36 months of appointment. Present and former WWTP employees will have their remaining number of original months to obtain certification.
