The City of Lansing is seeking to fill one full-time Wastewater Residual Handler 500 in one of the largest wastewater facilities in Michigan that is run with state-of-the art technology. Qualifications:
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & TRAINING:
-Michigan Class D Wastewater Plant Operator Certification preferred.
-Equivalency for Class D Wastewater Plant Operator Certification: Applicants without the Certification must be eligible and provide documentation of eligibility in accordance with State Law to write the Class D Wastewater Plant Operator examination or must have previously held the position and currently meet the posted education and experience requirements.
-Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Group B with Air Brakes and N (Tank) Endorsement; or be able to obtain within ninety (90) days from date of hire.
-Must possess and maintain a DOT medical examiners certification or be able to obtain within six (6) month from date of hire.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
-High School diploma or GED; AND
-Two (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of Wastewater Plant equipment.
-A combination of training and experience may be considered.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS INLCUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
-Monitors and adjusts, maintains and repairs filter press and lime stabilization processes at the plant facility.
-Takes reading and collects sewage and sludge samples.
-Checks chemical levels, tank levels and contents.
-Maintains and assists with the maintenance of process equipment such as, filter press and lime stabilization equipment.
-Alternates equipment operations as directed.
-Read charts and meters and maintains equipment and operations logs.
