Here's Where You Come In:  
We are currently seeking a Controller to join our team as a member of our growing Emerald Initiative team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive finance and accounting services to real estate, investment, and other entities managed by Emerald Initiative. You will consult with company principals to ensure stability and sustainability of finance and accounting operations. 




You also have strong communication and problem-solving skills while assisting in core accounting, investment accounting and documentation, development project accounting, and budgeting and forecasting. While working in a fast-paced, highly dynamic entrepreneurial environment, the Controller will maintain overall accuracy and integrity of the general ledgers and ensure that the financial statements are GAAP compliant and analytical work is comprehensive, thorough, and appropriately detailed. 

 

What to Expect: 

Responsible for and assist with the operational development of vertical sector support. 
Supports the day-day Active Issue Management and Active Energy Management operations building a cohesive and supportive environment, ensuring consistent customer coordination & service. 
Reviews & updates vertical or customer service procedures; collects, reviews, & assesses QA or KPI data. 
Participate in client business operational meetings & reviews, and participates in after-hours rotation for customer and service support. 
Effectively perform work order management across all horizontal offerings: Maintenance, Service, and Projects. 
Responsible for the assigned vertical sector or client special projects; supports vertical teams with research, action items, & project oversight or management; provides subject matter Vertical Market expertise. 

Qualifications:
What We Would Like To See From You: 
 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. 
Minimum of 5 years of experience in property management/real estate accounting. 
Working knowledge of accounting methods (accrual and cash) and ability to apply GAAP. 
Working knowledge of operating expense estimate/reconciliation process, including calculation of “gross-ups.” 
Ability to manage distributions/contributions and capital account balances in accordance with entity operating agreements. 
Detail orientation and ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with appropriate care. 
Impeccable communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to effectively communicate at all levels required, including with tenant representatives and investor-members. 
Self-starter, strong work ethic, and adaptable approach to work required. 
Experience working in real estate software packages (Yardi and Juniper Square preferred). 
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate to advanced Excel, Outlook required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred. 
Certified Public Account (CPA) certification preferred.
