Details:
Under the general supervision of the Environmental Compliance Manager, the environmental technician I is responsible for the testing and collection of data. This comes from various items such as the following: Groundwater, Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR), and Gas Collection and Control System (GCCS).

Essential Job Functions:
-Perform wastewater analysis on SBR influent and effluent samples.
-Perform QC/QA for all lab procedures.
-Collect daily flow readings and daily/quarterly samples from SBR.
-Collect daily flow readings and daily/quarterly samples from SBR.
-Complete Groundwater sampling on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
-Obtain flow readings and perform basic maintenance on groundwater recovery wells.
-Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on the air stripper.
-Effectively and efficiently collect monthly landfill gas extraction well readings.
-Perform quarterly Surface Emission Monitoring.
-Inspect, collect data, and perform preventive maintenance at landfill gas flare pad.
-Participate in safety training and attends safety meetings. Adheres closely to all safety policies and regulations to assure the safety of all employees and the public.
-Perform related work as required.

Qualifications:
-High School Diploma, or equivalent.
-A valid vehicle operator’s license.
-Basic knowledge of the environment.
-Basic understanding of operating and maintaining equipment used around the landfill during operation.
-Basic skills in technology, including computers and related software (word, excel, etc.).
-Ability to adapt to new technologies.
-Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgement, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with other employees and the public.

Comments:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, smell, and see with good, color vision. The employee frequently is required to use hands and reach with arms. While performing sample collection and testing, the employee is required to stand, walk, and stoop. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items of light to moderate weight.
The employee is often exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, but may become very loud.
