What you will be doing:
This is a rich opportunity to use your full range of accounting and leadership skills in supporting the team that delivers a suite of high-quality accounting, financing, payroll, and financial management consulting services to the Department of Enterprise Services and over 40 small agencies. You will help ensure the seamless integration of accounting and other financial management processes to ensure customers receive the financial information and services they need. You will exercise your expert knowledge in both proprietary and governmental accounting methods.
You will need to be a strategist, continually looking for financial management improvement opportunities that contribute to the success of customers, team members, partners, and stakeholders. With the agency’s role in the One Washington project, you will have the opportunity to influence financial management transformation at both the agency and statewide levels.
You will provide leadership, coaching, and support to members of the Finance Division and play a critical role in helping the division to meet and exceed its expectations for team and customer satisfaction (listed below).

Required Education, Experience, and Competencies.
Bachelors or higher degree from an accredited college or university involving major study in finance, business, accounting or public administration.
Three (3) years of Increasingly responsible experience managing a financial management organization and financial management professionals within state government or in a related field in private industry.
Demonstrated experience in proprietary fund accounting/financial management in the government sector or experience in private-sector financial management.
Demonstrated experience and competency in providing financial management support, analysis and advice to managers of complex programs or business operations.
Experience and familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board standards.
