Under direct supervision of the Laboratory and Pre-Treatment Coordinator, the Laboratory Technician
performs scientific analyses of wastewater and byproducts to ensure plant effluent meets local, state and
federal requirements, operates the Plant’s laboratory and assists and maintains the quality control/quality
assurance program The Laboratory Technician also performs the duties of Operator and various
miscellaneous duties as needed. The Laboratory Technician operates various computers, electronic
meters, and other standard laboratory equipment including but not limited to various measurement and
analytical devices. He/She will utilize the city’s financial computer system (Munis), as well as various
softwares as needed. The work is performed in a typical office environment and in an industrial setting
involving regular exposure to unpleasant odors and fumes, potential exposure to excessive temperatures,
humidity and noise, and is also occasionally performed in an outside setting involving potential exposure
to inclement weather and pathogens.


Qualifications:

Class II Operator License
Class I Laboratory Certification
Associate Degree involving physical, chemical, or biological sciences
Laboratory experience
Three years of wastewater treatment experience
Any combination of the above which provides the necessary skills and abilities to perform the job.



Comments:

This position will rotate into operations as needed
