JOB OBJECTIVES: Incumbent is responsible for the operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of a wide variety of equipment used in the water, distribution, wastewater and collection systems. Incumbent may be tasked with plant operations and other similar duties should the need arise.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform or assist in, but not limited to, the installation, operation, maintenance, repair, replacement and cleaning of a wide variety of equipment.
Troubleshoot, draw conclusions and take necessary actions to maintain operation of, but not limited to, motors, valves, meters, compressors, generators, drive units, level control devices, bearings, seals and other equipment.
Perform precision work including, but not limited to, diagnosing, repairing or replacing mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic or pneumatic components.
Proficient use of welder, cutting torches, drills, saws, alignment tools and a variety of other hand tools.
Collect information including reading multimeters, gauges, charts and recorders and record information by electronic and written means to form a maintenance log.
Perform daily safety checks of plant and ancillary equipment.
Operate a motor vehicle as needed to perform essential functions.
Operate motorized equipment including dump truck, mini excavator and backhoe.
May be required to collect wastewater or water samples as required by the plant operating permits.
Respond to and resolve customer inquiries and/or complaints.
Demonstrate predictable and regular attendance.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Abide by all health and safety procedures, rules and regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Equipment: Ability to safely and accurately use all forms of power hand tools, motorized equipment, cutting torches and welder. Able to operate plant sampling equipment.
Critical Skills/Expertise:
Knowledge of Village policies and procedures.
Knowledge of light, medium and heavy duty equipment operation and basic maintenance.
Knowledge, ability and skills in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and construction installation and repair procedures.
Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical manuals.
Ability to keep good, accurate records of daily activity.
Ability to work alone or in a group.
Ability to us basic mathematical equations.
Ability to effectively monitor and coordinate maintenance activities.
Ability to understand oral and written communications.
Ability to perform precision work, diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic problems.
Ability to maintain electronic files on computer.
Ability to produce handwritten communications, type on a computer, operate fax machines and copiers, or other light office equipment as required.
Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas and work around industrial chemicals.



Qualifications:

High School diploma or G.E.D. is required. Must possess and keep current Ohio driver’s license. A Class B CDL is preferred

DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
Work involves moderately complex, relatively simple standardized tasks, processes and operations following established laws and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervisor provides general guidance, support and performance intervention as necessary to ensure employees adherence to Village policies.

PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
Incumbent has contact with co-workers and the general public. Employee must display courteous, cooperative and professional conduct with associates and community.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical requirements: Work includes various lifting of up to one hundred (100) pounds. Employee must have the strength and dexterity to properly and safely utilize vehicles and other powered apparatus, equipment and tools.
Physical activity: Employee may/will perform the following activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, driving and repetitive motions.
Visual activity: Employee performs tasks involving hand to eye coordination, color and depth perception and peripheral sensory.
Unusual demands: Employee may be called out after normal work hours to evaluate and correct operational problems and will most often do so autonomously. Employee is routinely required to handle a variety of chemicals and other compounds.

Job location: Employee works inside and outside with temperatures that can/will range from below thirty two (32) degrees to above one hundred (100) degrees Fahrenheit for periods of time in excess of one (1) hour. Employees may occasionally be exposed to hazards and atmospheric conditions.
