Details:
Receives on the job training and experience. Maintains water treatment plant and raw water pumping operations by, performing operational checks of pumping equipment, chemical feed systems and maintains sufficient chemical feed volumes, patrols plant grounds. Services and maintains equipment, operates chemical feed equipment and tanks, washes filters. Collects and analyzes water samples and data and adjusts water treatment processes to respond to changing water quality conditions. Assists in providing training to new employees as directed by Supervision or Management.

Qualifications:
*Graduation from a high school or equivalent G.E.D.
*Twelve (12) credits of college level chemistry and biology and four (4) credits of college level algebra or equivalent as approved by the Division.
*Minimum of one year experience working as a water treatment plant operator in a similar plant.
*Must have a valid Michigan driver's license and qualify to drive a Division vehicle in compliance with the Division Driver Policy.
*Must be able to lift a minimum of seventy-five (75) pounds.
*Must have color vision.
*Must be able to work in confined spaces and outdoors under varying climatic conditions.
*Must be able to work various shifts, irregular hours, including holidays and weekends (please note: this position shall follow the same language and receive the same benefits provided for Senior Treatment Plant Operators per Bargaining Unit Agreement Article 19, Hours of Work and Premium Hours with the exception of the 30 calendar day notification of schedule change. This position will only require a ten (10) day notice for a schedule change).
*TPO II (A) a valid Michigan "F4" Water Filtration certification is not required. If a TPO II (A) successfully obtains the F4 certificate the incumbent will be promoted to the title of TPO II (B).
*TPO II (B) must have and maintain a valid Michigan "F4" Water Filtration certification, or equivalent from another state.
