Avon Lake Regional Water is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator. All vacancies will be filled from this list.

Under the supervision of the Waste Water Treatment Plant Manager and/or the Chief Utilities Executive, operates an alternating eight hour shift in a waste water treatment plant; does related work as required.

The selected applicant must have a good working knowledge of the principles involved in treatment of waste plant operations and have the ability to make adjustments required for production of clarified waste. Must possess the ability to solve operational problems as they arise, make laboratory tests; adjust chemical feeds as required; make repairs to equipment; keep adequate records of plant operation and pumpage, act on customer complaints and notification of emergencies. The selected individual must possess normal physical abilities required in hands-on operation of the above listed duties. The Operator is responsible for selection and adjustments to plant operation during his shift. When working afternoon or night shifts, weekends and holidays the operator is in primary charge of plant operations.



Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The selected applicant must possess a High School Diploma or GED, plus one (1) year formal training as an Operator-in-Training or equivalent.

Must possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

LICENSES

Must possess a Class 1 OEPA Waste Water Operator’s license and a valid Ohio Driver’s License at the time of application and maintain the same throughout employment.



Comments:

SALARY RANGE – $23.18-$37.44 per hour

All applications are due to the Commission no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020.

A twenty-five dollar ($25.00) non-refundable filing fee is required when the application is returned. Said fee shall be in the form of a cash or personal check payable to the City of Avon Lake.
