Water Plant Operator I
The City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Water Plant Operator I at the Dublin Road Water Plant located at 940 Dublin Road, Columbus, Ohio 43215. The Dublin Road Water Plant is an 80 million gallon per day surface water plant that employs lime-soda softening. The Water Plant Operator I will be responsible for monitoring, operating, and controlling water treatment and the processing equipment under supervision and will perform related duties as required such as performing chemical analysis on water and maintaining quality standards that are governed by the Ohio EPA. This position provides an excellent benefits package and annual salary range of $50,461 - $61,318.

2nd Shift: Tuesday-Saturday 3:25pm 11:25pm
Columbus provides quality drinking water to over 1.2 million customers throughout central Ohio We have recently spent over $500 million dollars upgrading and expanding our three water plants and plan on spending an additional $250 million dollars over the next five years. The Dublin Road Water Plant is a large, 80 million gallons per day Class IV surface water plant that employs conventional two-stage lime softening. DRWP recently installed ozone/biologically active filtration and is nearing completion of an Ion exchange for nitrate removal (one of the largest in the country). This water plant will also be adding standby power and UV disinfection within the next few years.
To be considered for the positon, you must possess a valid Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) State of Ohio Class I or higher Water Supply Operator certificate for water treatment works and you must have a valid Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) State of Ohio Laboratory Certificate with operational approval specifically for the assigned water treatment facility by the completion of the probationary period. A valid drivers license is also required.
