Under general supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Superintendent, the WWTP
Laboratory & Pre-Treatment Coordinator provides direct supervision to laboratory staff, and assists the
Superintendent in various administrative duties. WWTP Laboratory & Pre-Treatment Coordinator,
performs the work of the WWTP operations, laboratory, and administrative staff as needed to ensure the
effective operation of the facility. This position is the back-up operator of record at times in coordination
with the WWTP Assistant Superintendent. He/She is responsible for addressing the technical issues of the
laboratory and assuring that the technical operations of the laboratory are conducted within the guidelines
of the Quality Assurance Program. Moreover, he/she is responsible for implementing actions necessary to
bring operations into compliance with the Quality Assurance Program. The Laboratory and PreTreatment Coordinator will be responsible for keeping the Rocky River WWTP and its commercial and
industrial users, in compliance with all local, state and federal pretreatment requirements. The Wastewater
Treatment Plant Laboratory & Pre-Treatment Coordinator utilizes standard office equipment including,
but not limited to, the Citys telephone and computers, and calculator. The Wastewater Treatment Plant
Laboratory & Pre-Treatment Coordinator utilizes standard laboratory equipment including analyzers,
probes, digestion apparatus, spectrophotometers, and other standard glassware and laboratory tools. The
work is performed in a typical office environment and in an industrial setting involving regular exposure
to unpleasant odors and fumes, potential exposure to excessive temperatures, humidity and noise,
chemicals, and is also performed in an outside setting involving potential exposure to inclement weather
and pathogens.


Qualifications:

Class III Wastewater Operators License from the State of Ohio, and at least five (5)
years of progressively responsible experience in the various operations, lab analysis,
equipment and regulatory compliance involved in a Wastewater Treatment Plant facility,
or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the skills and
abilities necessary to perform the job.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
