The Role:

The Student Affairs AFO is responsible for the management and oversight for all the planning and fiscal activities for the Division of Student Affairs. The AFO serves as the Area Finance Officer (AFO) and is a member of the Vice President of Student Affairs executive team. The AFO partners with division vice president, associate vice presidents, directors and other management staff to optimize division resources and personnel and ensures appropriate and prudent use of the Division's funds including permanent budget level (PBL), self-sustained, donated, service & activity fees, grants, and auxiliary self-supported budgets. The AFO provides services in support of the quality campus living, learning and working environment consistent with the institutional strategic plan.

Experience you’ll bring to the team:


A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or closely related field with an accounting emphasis and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and business management which has included supervisory and facilities management experience. A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or closely related field and/or CPA certification may be substituted for one (1) year of the required work experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Requirements:

Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to use mental skills to recall, analyze and organize information,
Reach reasonable conclusions, make complex decisions, and identify future implications.
Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Requirements:

CPA License.
Experience with workday or other comparable financial systems.
Eight years or more of progressively responsible experience in financial management.
Experience with independent audit reviews.
Experience working with grants and contracts.
Experience with developing long range financial modeling.
Experience reviewing large scale processes and operations for large multi-faceted units.
Demonstrated ability to assess and enhance processes within an organization.
