The City of Elyria, Ohio is accepting applications for the position of Skilled Maintenance Worker in the Water Pumping Plant. This position will include physical labor, including working outdoors in all types of weather conditions. This position requires emergency call out responses at all hours of the day and night, including weekends and holidays. Starting hourly rate is $22.23, which includes an excellent fringe benefits package.


Qualifications:

The position requires an Ohio EPA Class I Water or an Operator in Training certificate. Applicants must have a High School diploma or GED. A valid Ohio Driver's license with a safe driving record and a drug screening are required. Applicants must be familiar with maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, turbines, valves, meters, gauges, chemical feeders and chemical feed pumps. A knowledge of the Ohio Administrative code (OAC) section 3745, the safe drinking water act. and all rules and regulations that pertain to drinking water.


Comments:

Knowledge of the operation of a Large water treatment plant's operation is preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to have effective working relationships with fellow coworkers, public officials, the general public and regulatory agencies (OEPA) is preferred.
