The Lake County Department of Utilities is accepting applications for the position of Water Treatment Superintendent. This position involves a broad range of senior-level managerial duties associated with effectively overseeing all aspects of water treatment plant operations, including the management of operations, maintenance, and personnel. The Water Treatment Superintendent shall plan, direct, organize, schedule and coordinate activities and processes associated with the operations of conventional surface water treatment, ensuring compliance with regulatory procedures, record-keeping and reporting practices, motivating and managing the performance of employees, providing coaching, counseling, training and safety standards, assisting in the development and execution of facility goals, site priorities, division goals, workforce plans and long-term strategic objectives, and assisting in the preparation of the annual budget.

Qualifications:

The ideal superintendent must exercise independent judgement, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, display effective communication and leadership to promote employee growth and development, exhibit sound decision-making when faced with complex or unique situations, utilize discretion, consistently deliver customer service in a professional fashion, and possess strong skills in verbal and written communication, organizational abilities, time management, and analytical thinking. A Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering, and a minimum of ten (10) years of demonstrated leadership related to the areas of water treatment is desired. Applicants shall have significant managerial experience and administrative experience overseeing a staff of ten or more employees in a departmental setting. Considerations for short term assignments are also available. An Ohio EPA Water Supply Class IV license is preferred, a Water Supply Class IV exam application approved by the Ohio EPA is required at a minimum. A valid Ohio Driver's License with a safe driving record and a drug screen are required. Salary based on qualifications.
