Details:
Supervises and directs the maintenance and repair of the City of Saginaw's water distribution, sewage collection and meter systems. Responsibilities include installation, setting, repair and maintenance of 300+ miles of sewer main, 415 miles of water main, 14,000 catch basins, 5,000 manholes, 2,600 hydrants and 5,000 main line valves. The City services 18 wholesale customers and two institutions with water delivered through master meters. The residential metering system consists of approximately 20,000 meters read monthly.

Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Must possess an S-2 State of Michigan Water Distribution certification at time of placement; into the position.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with water distribution, sewage collection and water meters.
- Minimum 3 years’ proven supervisory experience to include work crew scheduling, positive completion of work crew assignments, crew performance
evaluation, resolution of personnel problems and maintenance of work records.
- Must be able to utilize computers as a record keeping and scheduling tool.
- Must possess proven skills in dealing with general public and handling citizen complaints, to include water shutoff and service order scheduling.
- Must possess strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of water meters and related testing & maintenance procedures and equipment used in the operation and maintenance of water
distribution and sewage collection systems.
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be knowledgeable about confined space entry law, procedures and safety equipment.
- Must have basic knowledge of cross- connection regulations, control devices and ability to perform general cross-connection control inspections.
- Must possess knowledge of generally accepted maintenance operation and repair techniques for water system pipelines 3/4" - 48", and sewer system
pipelines 9" - 180" and their appurtenances.
- Must have a good working knowledge of system isolation and directional flushing techniques.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License.
- Must possess a Michigan Commercial Driver’s License, Class A with N endorsement.
