|Title:||Survey Tech III Crew Chief|
• Able to perform all duties expected of a Surveying Technician II
• Crew Chief with 3 or more years' experience leading a survey crew (2 men) to include operation of Trimble GPS R-8, Trimble RTS S-6, TSC3 Data Collector, or similar.
• Has basic experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D operations as they pertain to surveying and plats.
• OSHA 10 safety a plus, but will train.
• Must keep legible daily field notes, work well with others and able to perform topographic, boundary, ALTA/NSPS and construction surveys.
• Is proficient with the set-up and operate of instrumentation required for the collection or layout of survey data in the field (includes RTK/GPS, total stations, controllers/data collectors and automatic levels). Advanced knowledge of the calibration of survey equipment on a regular basis.
• Has advanced knowledge in the operation of controllers or data collectors including control initialization, GPS OPUS techniques, layout techniques (centerline and offset staking), curve staking intersections, radial stake out and basic error analysis.
• Transmits survey data to the proper files in the computer network, and be able to acquire the data for field use. Able to send data to the office from remote locations by laptop and modem on a daily basis.
• Is proficient at reading plans and calculate centerlines, stationing, horizontal and vertical curve data, utility locations curb & gutter and curb returns.
• Perform construction staking activities including slope stake, utility offsets, streets and commercial lots.
• Prepares neat written field notes and daily records and maintains cut sheets for staking projects.
• Knowledge of survey safety and standard practices, per the SMA Survey Manual.
• Provide direction, leadership and responsibility for a 2 or 3 man survey crew.
• High school diploma/GED and at least five years of experience in the surveying industry at a minimum or a Level IV NSPS Certified Surveyor Technician Certificate with at least 3 years of experience
• Proficient at survey mathematics and geometry with the ability to calculate Cartesian coordinates, traverse closures / adjustments, intersections, resections, horizontal curves and vertical curves. Also end area and volume calculations knowledge.
• Must have the ability to operate a computer and computer software related to surveying and data collection. Software programs include Trimble Geomatica Offfice and TDS survey softwares.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees of the organization.
• Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but non-involved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must have the ability to operate a computer and computer software related to surveying and data collection, a data collector, total survey station and level.
