Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join a well-established and expanding water/wastewater team in our Toledo office. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the project team through planning, design and construction phases for a wide variety of municipal water and wastewater projects. The ideal candidate will assume leadership responsibilities such as development and execution of project scope, budget and schedule; serve as responsible charge on projects; mentor staff and identify developmental growth opportunities; develop strong relationships with clients and contractors; and support business development. This role will offer a wide variety of individual project assignments which will allow the Engineering Manager to practice and develop technical knowledge and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the technical leader of multi-discipline project teams assuming management responsibilities of scope, budget and schedule.
Mentor staff and identify developmental growth opportunities.
Oversee Quality Control process in accordance with company policy.
Perform complex detailed design engineering calculations.
Apply standard design principles and concepts and ensure all design products are in compliance with applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
The Engineering Manager may also serve in a Program Manager or Deputy Program Manager role for a major Combined Sewer Overflow Program.

Attend and assist in, or lead, client, contractor, stakeholder, and regulatory agency meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals, site assessments, and vendor/equipment supplier contacts and coordination.
Responsible for determining identification of key client interests and drivers on projects.
Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on moderately complex projects. Focuses on client's current needs and situations.
Typically supports multiple projects on the very complex technical challenges.
Assist with proposal and business development opportunities.
Develop strong relationships with clients and contractors.
Leverage professional networking skills to help identify and pursue project opportunities.



Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 8 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Prefer 10+ years professional experience managing and leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver water and wastewater design projects
Ohio PE (or the ability to obtain within 90 days of start date)
Previous consulting experience
Proficiency with computer software, including MS Office Suite and Project Software, CAD Software and Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat
Experience preparing proposals and reports, producing design drawings, preparing technical specifications, and providing construction phase services
