The Department of Public Works delivers services that help to define and improve the quality of life in Denver. Right-of-Way Services manages activities associated with private development and use of city right-of-way, including the enforcement of on-street parking. It also develops plans for regulatory compliance that facilitate safe access for both vehicular traffic and pedestrians.
The Survey Section of the Right-of-Way-Services division provides land survey expertise to the Department of Public Works and other city agencies and proactively reviews both private and city development projections.
We are seeking an experienced, licensed Professional Land Surveyor to join our surveying team in providing surveying expertise.
In this position, you will:
lead subordinate staff within a major technical and specialized land survey unit including the review of right-of-way surveys, boundary surveys and GIS/CAD functions for drawings, maps, records and legal descriptions
be responsible for enforcement of policy and procedures for survey departmentÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s review process
will provide consultation to outside agency representatives on land and surveying title matters
have experience in planning, coordinating, and evaluating the work of professional land surveyors
direct the establishment and maintenance of survey control monuments and related data and performs statutory survey certification duties
direct the acquisition of field data required to authoritatively position fixed works or cadastral relative to geodetic control
file monument records in accordance with state statute
performs or directs field data collection and layout for construction and design projects
researches city ownership, right-of-way, and other property issues.
resolves conflicting data elements by authoritative interpretation of maps, deeds, or other land title documents.
analyzes, adjusts, or transformation of cadastral data of the parcel layer with respect to the geodetic control layer within a GIS resulting in the affirmation of positional accuracy
provide work instruction and assists employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments
assign and distribute work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness and returns assignments with recommendations for proper completion
While the full pay range of this Job Classification is $ 67,740.00 - $ 108,384.00, our target hiring salary for this position is between $ 67,740.00 - $75,000.00 , depending on education, experience and qualifications.
Our ideal candidate will have:
experience as licensed Professional Land Surveyor

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Engineering, Science or a related field
Experience: Two (2) years of experience of the type and level of Staff Land Surveyor
Licensures / Certifications:
Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) issued by the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors at the time of application.
Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) by another state will be accepted in lieu of this requirement providing the applicant is licensed by the State of Colorado by the completion of the probationary period.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education
