Compensation: The current starting rate is $25.09 per hour with incremental pay increases after 6 months, 1 year, and 18 months. Additional increases as defined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Hours: 40+ Hours. This is a full-time position with overtime requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Utilities Supervisor, the Crew Leader coordinates and participates in the effective operation and maintenance of the WWTP, CSO Retention Basin, and Lift Stations. Oversees daily plant operations, supervises operators, schedules and leads in the completion of all operation and maintenance activities. Assures plant effluent meets NPDES permit standards. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge and previous experience in the operations of a wastewater treatment plant facility preferred. Must possess a high school diploma or a GED equivalent; an Associate degree or higher in related field preferred. Five years of increasingly responsible related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Maintaining a good driving record with a valid State of MI Driver’s License is required.

Must possess valid MDEQ Class B Sewage Treatment Works License.

Must possess strong supervisory skills with the ability to train new wastewater treatment plant operators.

Must possess the ability to interact with the public and to effectively present information both verbally and in writing.

Required to pass respirator fit test.

Computer skills necessary including Microsoft Office.
