Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking a licensed Land Surveyor to join our Surveying Department. In this role you will be responsible for analyzing contractor documentation for compliance to DEN Surveying Specifications. You will perform professional land surveying work requiring independent application of industry principles and practices. You will work on runways and taxiway rehab projects, as well, as Airline gate paint layout and field maintenance projects.
You will report to DEN Land Surveyor Supervisor and join a team of four that will work together to create, review and certify survey documents and legal records. You will be responsible to oversee all aspects of boundary and area surveying and review other surveyors work for accuracy and completeness before it is delivered to DEN customers. In this role it is extremely important to be able to communicate well with other staff, and give positive feedback. We are looking for a team player who will work with others to solve problems and be an engaged member of the team.
In this role you will work with a diverse group of clients from contractors, the FAA, ground transportation and airport operations. Overall, we are looking for someone to support the mission of DEN Survey section and assist with customer work requests.
Performs land surveys including subdivision checks, laying out of property lines, deformation studies and ties to state plane coordinate system.
Prepares and checks legal descriptions for properties, plans, ordinances, easements, and agreements.
Prepares, signs and seals land survey plats and exhibits in accordance with state statutes.
Directs the establishment and maintenance of survey control monuments and related data and performs statutory survey certification duties.
Files monument records in accordance with state statute.
Performs or directs field data collection and layout for construction and design projects.
Researches airport ownership, right-of-way, and other property issues.
Develops or modifies work plans, methods and procedures; determines work priorities and develops work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage.
Provides work instruction and assists employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments. Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness and returns assignments with recommendations for proper completion.
Performs quality assurance surveying and record keeping on airport construction projects.
Working Knowledge of GPS and Robotic Total Stations.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
We are looking for someone with experience working with AutoCAD to interpret and calculate LDP Coordinate points. In addition, someone with the following skills and experience:
Two years of experience of the type and level of LSIT
Previous experience performing surveying work at an Airport.
Experience with establishing Horizontal and Vertical control for construction and design projects.
Familiar with NGS Horizontal and Vertical Datum's.

Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Engineering, Science or a related field.
Two (2) years of experience of the type and level of Staff Land Surveyor
One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
Require a Colorado Class "R" Driver’s License by the completion of probation
Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) issued by the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors at the time of application.
Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) by another state will be accepted in lieu of this requirement providing the applicant is licensed by the State of Colorado by the completion of the probationary period.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
