Matrix Design Group, Inc. is actively seeking a Survey Party Chief to join our team in our Denver or Colorado Springs office.

Summary:
Responsible for providing accurate field data, research, and calculations needed to produce maps and digital terrain models for project designs. Discipline is the applied science used to determine and map geographical and geological features.

Essential Functions:
• Assist with proposals and marketing development.
• Manage multiple surveying projects including; deadlines, research, field schedules, data processing, drafting and delivery to client.
• Manage field survey crews in completing topographic, boundary and control surveys for design and construction surveys for municipal, private and roadway projects.
• Research and interpret record survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records.
• Establishes the exact project alignment with the Project Manager or Project Engineer from the corridor alignment
• Reports unique or potential construction difficulties to the Director or Project Engineer
• Ensures that field information is correct and accurately transferred to the Project Engineer
• Communicate with the client, when needed, to ensure satisfaction with work performed and to overcome obstacles in the performance of field duties,
• Analyzes survey controls - GPS and conventional
• Performs ALTA surveys
• Preparation of Record of survey, maps, plats and legal descriptions
• Utilize technology on projects
• Responsible for clear, informative and accurate field notes

Competencies:
• Proficient with documentation of work performed and sketched
• Expert in AutoCAD/Civil 3D
• Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent mathematical skills to include; algebra, trigonometry and geometry
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship management skills
• Well versed in all field techniques related to boundary retracement, design support and construction surveying support
• Familiar with GPS surveys, electronic field data collection, computations and data processing and mapping (AutoCAD and MicroStation) on boundary, route, geodetic, topographic and subsurface utility engineering projects
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and mange simultaneously occurring tasks and shifting priorities
• Strong technical writing skills

Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of three (3) years of construction surveying experience as a Party Chief
• Professional Land Surveyor preferred
• Experience with Trimble field equipment required
• Valid driver's license, in conjunction with successfully passing the Company’s MVR screening
• Ability to travel as the business necessitates
• Familiar with GPS surveys, electronic field data collection, computations and data processing and mapping (AutoCAD and MicroStation) on boundary, route, geodetic, topographic and subsurface utility engineering projects

Physical Demands:
The candidate applying for this position should be physically capable of performing all activities and functions normally associated with field surveying. This includes, but is not limited to, carrying survey equipment, using shovels/picks for survey monument excavation, using hammers/mauls to set control stakes or monument corners, using brushing tools to clear lines of sight and being prepared to work in the normal summer and winter environments of the Colorado front Range.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
