Under direct supervision of the Maintenance Foreman, the Maintenance Mechanic maintains and repairs
mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical machinery and equipment in the WWTP. The Maintenance
Mechanic also performs routine maintenance in the plant, and performs miscellaneous duties as needed.
The Maintenance Mechanic operates a tow motor, forklift, welder, electrical testing equipment, sampling
equipment, computers and system controls and various hand/power tools involved in maintaining the
plant’s operational equipment. The maintenance mechanic must also have or be able to attain a working
understanding of the operational processes and process equipment at the wastewater treatment plant. The
work is performed in an industrial setting involving regular exposure to unpleasant odors and fumes,
potential exposure to excessive temperatures, humidity and noise, and is also routinely performed in an
outside setting involving potential exposure to inclement weather and pathogens.


Qualifications:

A high school education; At least three (3) years of previous experience in a position involving maintenance of mechanical
and electrical equipment and/or operation of a wastewater treatment facility; All new employees of the WWTP must be licensed through the State of Ohio Environmental Protection agency within 30 months of date of hire.
