Examples of Work Performed:

- Operates, cleans, and maintains system equipment
- Operates and adjusts valves, pumps and other appurtenances in accordance with the operational needs of the wastewater collections system
- Observes variations in system operating conditions, completes daily operational logs and reports back to the Collections System Supervisor
- Makes adjustments to equipment under the direction of the Collections System Supervisor
- Makes minor repairs to pumps, motors, controls, valves, and other associated collections system equipment as directed
- Performs inflow and infiltration repairs, including but not limited to raising and sealing manholes
- Performs pump station preventative maintenance, including but not limited to pulling and cleaning of pumps, cleaning of floats, and checking of amperage and voltage
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Collections System Supervisor
- Participates in the on-call emergency operator rotation


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification or the ability to obtain a Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification within two years from the date of hire
- 6 months experience in operating a wastewater collections system and/or wastewater treatment facility, construction of water and/or sanitary sewer utilities, or any combination of experience and training sufficient to indicate ability to perform the work

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

- Basic knowledge of the principals, materials, and equipment used in wastewater collections systems
- Basic knowledge of the principals and practices involved in the operation of electric motors, pumps, and other electrical and mechanical equipment
- Ability to read meters and charts accurately, maintain records, and complete operating reports
- Ability to understand and follow detailed operating system procedures
- Ability to work in a team/collaborative environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use computer with basic skills in Microsoft Office
