Details:
The City of Sturgis is currently seeking a full time Wastewater Operator to operate and monitor pumps, settling tanks, aeration tasks, digesters and other equipment of the Wastewater Treatment Plant to ensure conformance to acceptable standards. This position requires routine maintenance and repairs to treatment plant equipment, buildings and grounds.

Qualifications:
Interested candidates are required to have a valid driver’s license and High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by any vocational training or skilled trades, knowledge of laboratory testing methods and procedures. Candidates with Class D Municipal Michigan Wastewater treatment operator’s certification license, mechanical and/or electrical experience are preferred. Within 12 twelve months of employment: obtain a “D” Municipal Michigan Wastewater treatment operator’s certification, Ability to obtain a 40Hr HAZWOPER certificate.



Comments:
Working Conditions include but not limited to; exposure to odors, wastewater and residuals, high levels of noise, methane gas and other toxic fumes and pathogens, high pressure air systems, confined air spaces requiring testing and ventilation, and a variety of chemicals used in the treatment process.
