Job Description:
• Operate wastewater treatment plant per NPDES Permit requirements
• Interact with Department of Environmental Quality
• Submit monthly reports to Department of Environmental Quality
• Operates, maintains, and performs minor repairs to wastewater treatment plant
• Diagnoses operating problems and performs or directs necessary corrective actions
• Reads gauges and meter, starts/stops equipment and operates valves to route and control flow, makes process control adjustment, determines and sets proper chemical dosages and flow rates
• Works with PLC’s and SCADA system
• Collects samples and performs laboratory tests
• Processes bio solids in accordance with plant schedules and regulatory requirements
• Enters data, prepares reports, and maintains records of plant operations.
• Inspects equipment to identify and perform needed maintenance and repairs
• Follows written and oral instructions
• Ability to respond to requests by management
• Ability to respond to emergency conditions
• Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
• Michigan Industrial C-3b Wastewater License (or ability to obtain within 8 months)
• One year experience
• Familiarity of the principles and practices of wastewater treatment plant operations. Sequencing Batch Reactor experience preferred
• Ability to perform laboratory testing associated with wastewater treatment (BOD, TSS, P, NH4, pH, DO, fecal coliform, MLSS)
• Understanding of principles and methods of bacteriological and chemical wastewater treatment

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work alone with minimum supervision
• Working environment will be indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements.
• Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals.
• The use of appropriate safety equipment is MANDATORY.
• Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment
• Have vision sufficient to service equipment, have hearing in a the normal range with or without correction
• Ascend and descend stair steps
• Lift objects up to 50 lbs from floor level to waist height
• Wear and use appropriate safety equipment
