JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a professional and administrative position in the development and coordination of Village functions and programs. Duties include, but are not limited to, communicating goals, objectives and programs to Village departments and to the general public and in the development and implementation of special programs and projects. The salary will range from $40,000-$46,000 depending on qualifications and experience.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Assist the Mayor, Council Board, and Commissions in the establishment of current and long range objectives, plans, and policies. Attend Council meetings, committee meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings as necessary.

Performs management analysis, conducts surveys and prepares research reports and other policy documents to serve as a basis of action by the Village Administrator.

Develops and updates the demographic and economic profile of the Village. Coordinates the Special Census process. Prepares and maintains information on utilities, taxes, zoning, transportation, community services, financing tools, etc.

Assist Finance Director with finance-related activities and projects relative to capital development planning, financing, purchasing, and human resources.

Follows safe work practices.

Performs special projects as assigned.

Must live in the Village of Paulding or willing to relocate


Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Computer skills, able to read maps, and have three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:



Four year college degree in Business or Public Administration or equivalent.

Two year supervisory experience, preferably in municipal government.

Knowledge of public administration and its application to local government.

Knowledge of the principles and objective of urban management, public finance, and economic development.

Ability to plan, initiate, direct and supervise.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.

Possess a valid driver’s license.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

JUDGMENT & REASONING ABILITY

Ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the direction, control, and planning of entire program or multiple programs.

Ability to solve practical problems and apply functional reasoning in synthesizing information and functions in activities such as leading, controlling, managing, supervising and teaching.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
