The Lake County Department of Utilities is accepting applications for the position of Wastewater Collection System Maintenance Manager. Applicants must have a High School diploma or GED, an Ohio EPA Wastewater Collection Class II Certification or an Ohio EPA Wastewater Operator Class III Certification and a valid Ohio Driver’s license with a safe driving record. A Science/Engineering associate degree and five years of supervisory experience in the wastewater industry is preferred. The successful applicant will serve as the primary point of contact with the OEPA as it relates to the Collection System. This leadership position is responsible for the oversight, repair, maintenance, and inspection of approximately 500 miles of the Lake County Department of Utilities wastewater collection system. Candidates should be very familiar with Ohio EPA compliance reporting, CMOM program development, mitigating sanitary sewer overflows, preparing maintenance records, preventative care, communicating with contractors, consultants and customers, ensuring compliance with OEPA regulations, departmental regulations and adhering to County safety standards. Applicants should be familiar with GIS systems, electronic work orders for maintenance and construction of large capital projects and should possess the necessary interpersonal skills to interact with various County departments. This position also requires experience with developing an operational budget and the workforce planning, organizing and coaching of ten employees. The Wastewater Collection System Maintenance Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for approving equipment purchases, ordering supplies and responding to calls 24/7 from customers regarding repairs and maintenance of the wastewater collection system.
