Details:
The Water Technology instructor will teach various courses in the Water Resource Management and Environmental Management Programs. In addition, the faculty member has various responsibilities related to professional development, curriculum development, student advising and success, communication, lab safety, and activities that support the college and division's operational success.

-Teach a wide range of Water Technology courses including Wastewater Operations & Management, Environmental Analysis, Current Issues for Managers, Water in Motion, Aquatic Evaluation & Bacteriology, Water Analysis & Techniques, and Industrial Solutions.
- Provide leadership in the development of the Water Technology department by working with industry partners, colleagues, and students and by participating in the development of a vision for the water technology facility and curriculum.
- Facilitate student learning through the following activities:
a. Develop course syllabi that share with students the expectations, standards, policies, and learning objectives of the course.
b. Contribute to the development and delivery of assessments of course and program learning outcomes.
c. Recognize and respond to different student learning styles and needs.
d. Develop and use supplementary learning materials, resources, and technology.
e. Serve as an academic advisor to students per the guidelines of the Master Agreement.
f. Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
g. Maintain at least the minimum number of regularly scheduled office hours per the Master Agreement in order to advise and assist students.
h. Assist in the planning and coordination of a water technology advisory board.
- Adhere to the ethical standards of the college, the State of Michigan, the Higher Learning Commission, FERPA and other education regulations, and the water technology profession.
- Work with the dean and other necessary faculty and staff to develop a water technology course schedule that meets the needs of students and other stakeholders.
- Provide for a safe and orderly lab environment and instruct students in the principles and practices of safety.
- Maintain, plan, and acquire needed equipment and supplies.
- Stay abreast of developments in the fields of water technology and teaching by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional development opportunities.
- Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with continuous improvement, institutional policies, departmental matters, division policies, and/or academic issues.
- Communicate with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders in a professional manner through the use of telephone, email, fax, mail, and/or face-to-face communication.
- Participate in professional activities such as, but not limited to, curriculum planning, syllabus writing, examination development, textbook selection, program revision, and outcome assessment.
- Assist the dean in recruiting, recommending the hire, and mentoring adjunct faculty.
- Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
- Attend graduation activities and other events as required by the Master Agreement.

Qualifications:
- An associate's degree in water resource management, environmental science, or a closely related field, with the ability and willingness to obtain a bachelor's degree within three years of being hired
- Two years of work experience related to the position
- Ability and willingness to obtain Michigan's S-4, F-4, and D certifications relating to water and wastewater within two years of being hired
- Mathematical skills sufficient to perform calculations relating to hydraulics, water operations, and the associated chemistry
- Demonstrated literacy in information technology and computer use
- Commitment to quality instruction in a learner-centered environment with the goal of consistently improving student success
- Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy
- Ability to provide diverse learning experiences to diverse student populations
- Demonstrated skill in effective written and oral communications

Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates who already possess a bachelor's degree in a closely related field are preferred, as are those with a master's degree in environmental science or a closely related field (or willingness to obtain the credential)
- Candidates who already possess Michigan's S-4, F-4, and D certifications relating to water and wastewater are preferred
- Community college teaching experience
- Experience with active and collaborative learning strategies
- Experience teaching online classes
- Experience with student assessment
