Title:Survey Technician

Details:Northern Engineering’s Survey Department intends to hire an entry level Survey Technician to work out of the Greeley, Colorado branch office. The potential employee will be detail oriented, exhibit timeliness, possess efficient work habits, be able to take and retain directions from more experienced staff members, and a possess a desire to be a continual learner in the many aspects of the Land Survey industry. The potential employee will work with and be mentored by several staff members with a combined 45 years of Land Survey experiences across multiple states in the region.

1. General Characteristics
Provides support to Project Surveyor and Survey Manager in developing plats, easements, and drawings. Work will include CAD drafting, description writing, title work reading, plotting, and preparing final drawings. In addition, the employee must have the desire and ability to work outside as a member of a survey crew and know the basic duties of field survey operations, be able to learn and efficiently utilize the survey equipment required to do the various field survey tasks, and a strong desire to continually learn and improve on all the skills necessary to be a successful Survey Technician.

2. Basic Duties
a. Proficient at operating the office CAD system, including drawing and plotting sheets.
b. Take direction from others and produces plats, ALTA’s, easement exhibits, and other documents.
c. Has a basic understanding of the work being produced, including terminology, standard symbols, and office drafting standards.
d. Provide other support as required, such as field reconnaissance and processing of submittal materials.
e. Efficiently work, helping keep projects on schedule and budget.
f. Knowledgeable in the basic operations of various types of survey equipment.

3. Supervision Required
Work under the direct supervision of Project Surveyor in the office setting and under an experienced Party Chief while performing field survey duties.

4. Typical Physical Demands
a. Must have a clean driving record and the ability to obtain a valid Colorado Driver’s license and required Colorado automobile insurance.
b. Regular vision and normal range of hearing is required. Ability to be exposed to outside weather conditions, high noise levels normally involved in construction, high traffic, and rough terrain.
c. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
d. Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
