The City of Lansing is seeking a Surface Supervisor 32 and a Sewer Supervisor 32 to join the Operations and Maintenance Division. The ideal candidates will have four years of experience performing public works duties, including, but not limited to, construction, maintenance and repairs of sewers, surface and streets infrastructure; at least one year of supervisory experience, excellent communication skills, working knowledge of traffic safety control procedures, excavation safety, general construction safety requirements, and applicable MIOSHA regulations.
This is a great opportunity to join a team of individuals dedicated to the advancement of Lansing. The position pays between $39,882.48 - $59,315.94. The City offers a competitive wage and benefit package including paid vacation, sick and holiday leave.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in a wide variety of complex public works maintenance activities.
• Participates in the development of annual work plan for budget operations
• Ensures work crews follow general safety rules and procedures
• Participates in natural disaster response
• Assigns equipment and coordinates repair or rental as required
• Oversees snow plowing and road salting operations on major and local streets
• Diagnoses sewer systems for repair and cleaning needs
• Oversees MISDIG operations for the City sewer lines


Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following:
• A high school diploma or GED
• An Associate’s Degree is highly preferred.
• A valid driver’s license
• Four years of experience performing public works duties such as construction, maintenance and repairs of sewers, streets, and surface infrastructure.
• One year of supervisory experience as a work group leader or supervisor where work direction was given to others in a public works environment or combination of education and experience.
• A proven track record of punctuality and a good work ethic.
