The City of Williamston is accepting applications for the position of Utility Supervisor II. This position is generally supervised by the Director of Public Works and is normally under the direction of the Wastewater Superintendent in the day to day operations of the activated sludge wastewater treatment plant (Class B), sewage lift stations and sanitary sewer collection system. In the absence of the Wastewater Superintendent, serves as the Lead Supervisor in the Wastewater Department.
This position ideally includes the assignment of Operator-In-Charge for the water treatment plant (depending on qualifications). This position supervises staff in the operations and maintenance of the supply side of the public water system. This includes oversight of laboratory analysis, reporting, operation, and maintenance of the groundwater supply wells, pressure filters and softening equipment at the water treatment plant as well as the elevated storage tank. This position will assist in the operation and maintenance of the distribution system.
This position serves as part of the Public Works Management Team and works with other Public Works Department personnel to effectively achieve the City's public works objectives. This position also provides after-hours support for emergencies and is included in the on-call rotation with DPW employees. This position requires flexibility with daily task scheduling and a wide array of skills.

Qualifications:
1. Completion of two years of college-level coursework (Associates Degree preferred) in water/wastewater treatment technology and minimum of five years of experience in operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems
2. Valid Michigan driver’s license; CDL Class B with Airbrakes endorsement required within 6 months of date of hire.
3. State of Michigan Wastewater Operator License Level B (Preferred) or Level C (Minimum) required with demonstrated ability to progress to Level B within eighteen months of date of hire.
4. State of Michigan Water Operator Licenses D-2 (Treatment Systems) and S-2 (Distribution Systems) preferred.
5. Basic knowledge and understanding of electronics, electrical circuits and electrical drawings with ability to troubleshoot circuitry problems.
6. Working knowledge and understanding of electrical motors, starters, relays and automated controls, including computerized SCADA systems.
7. Working knowledge and understanding of plumbing and pumping systems.
8. Using computers and related software applications, and the ability to master new technologies;
