Columbus provides quality safe drinking water to over 1.2 million customers throughout central Ohio and is one of the largest public water systems in the state. It has recently spent $500 million upgrading and expanding its water plants and will be spending an additional $250 million over the next five years. The Dublin Road Water Plant (80 MGD) and Hap Cremean Water Plant (125 MGD) are large Class IV surface water plants employing conventional two stage lime softening. Both plants have undergone major improvements and have added ozone/biologically active filtration. The DRWP is also adding ion exchange for nitrate removal (one of the largest facilities in the country). In addition, both plants will be adding standby power and UV disinfection within the next few years. Come be a part of cutting edge water treatment.
