Astbury Water Technology, Inc. (Astbury) is seeking an individual holding either an Indiana or Michigan Wastewater or Water Operator’s License to assist in the operation of treatment systems serving portions of North Central Indiana (Marshall, St. Joseph, Elkhart and/or LaGrange Counties). This position primarily involves operating and maintaining Class I Wastewater Treatment and Collection Systems, but may also include operating and maintaining small community Drinking Water Treatment and Distribution Systems. All laboratory testing is done by our in-house laboratory network, so duties are limited to routine operations and maintenance, including field testing, grinder pump repairs and service calls, periodic “on-call” responsibilities, and monthly reporting.

Other tasks might include oversight of subcontractors and subordinate Astbury associates, scheduling of preventative maintenance, and a variety of related duties such as utility locates. Candidates must be reliable and organized with a strong work ethic. This position will report to Astbury’s General Manager of Northeast Operations.

It is noteworthy that this position has advancement potential; we have grown significantly in the past few years and continue to see high demand for our services.

Qualifications:
Candidates must possess experience operating Wastewater and/or Drinking Water Treatment Systems and knowledge of a variety of maintenance and repair related tasks specific to electrical, mechanical and infrastructure components commonly located within these systems. Repair and construction skills and experience are also beneficial.

In addition to experience, candidates must have a high degree of flexibility and reliability. Astbury offers a wide array of services and prefers to keep employees somewhat interchangeable, so we are seeking job candidates who are capable of and interested in learning and performing a range of related tasks and projects. Also, in emergency situations, employees will sometimes need to be on-call nights, weekends and holidays.

Education & Certifications

This position requires:
• A High School Diploma
• A valid Drivers’ License
• An Indiana Class I Wastewater Operators’ License or at least some level of Indiana/Michigan Water Operators’ License (we will consider applicants possessing licenses from surrounding states)
• Commitment to obtain additional certification if necessary

Special preference is given to candidates that possess higher levels of Wastewater and/or Water Licenses, Ohio and/or Michigan Licenses, Lift Station Maintenance Capabilities, College or Associates Degrees, Technical and Mechanical Capabilities, and/or Electrical Skills or Certification.

Compensation

Compensation is based on experience. We offer competitive pay, career advancement, paid time-off, health insurance, company vehicles, and 401k retirement plans. We are strongly committed to retaining talented and hard-working employees. Astbury is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Additional compensation will be considered for: Electrical and/or Mechanical Certification or Capabilities; Lift Station Maintenance Capabilities; Greater Levels of Experience and Education; Managerial Experience; and Higher Levels of Indiana Wastewater and/or Water Operator Licenses.
